It was a very healing place for me for a time when I really needed it.

Yes. For me as well. It's just one of those things, you know? Something that has a premise - there's two guys, they go through all kinds of shit and danger and misfortune, and are always, always, always at each other's sides every step of the way, no matter what - and it is just so completely devoid of artifice or cowardice or slipperiness about playing that premise 100% straight, no qualifiers.

Absolutely. Since it was my first fandom (in 2004), I didn't realized until later how rare it was to have a show that didn't constantly reinforce "but I'm not gay!" or give winks to the audience or whatever. It's just honest devotion and love between these two guys.
