Starfighter starts with a rape in the very first chapter. Only then the writer tries to handwave it by suggesting the guy who was raped has been dreaming his whole life of a nice good raping, so that's okay.

The art is great, but the plot is dire. I really wish it was less of a cliched yaoi stereotype fest, as I love all the actual star battle scenes. They're among the best I've seen. I tried to read it, I did.

I much prefer Teahouse. At least it lays its cards on the table that dubcon/rape is part of its selling point (it's a webcomic about fancy whores, woohoo!) I actually do like Teahouse (or at least the Axis arc) but it comes in for even more criticism than Starfighter.

How do you like Teahouse? I heard some negative things about it a while ago (I don't remember exactly what) but I've been thinking of looking at it because the person who does that and HamletMachine were doing something together, also the hot yaois.

See here's the thing that bugs me.

I'd be a lot more okay with people if they said "if I were in Abel's shoes I'd consider myself raped because this and because that", no one wants you to be raped, it's your right to stand up for yourself.

But Abel did want to have sex with someone and his conduct isn't of someone being raped, nor does he ever think or say so. This is usually handwaved as "stockholm syndrome" or "abuse", but the first just shows ignorance of what SS is and the second makes no sense, to read him as an abused person you'd have to ignore his whole character basically. Whatever Cain dishes at him, he can take it. Again, this is usually handwaved as "unrealistic", but if I were in Abel's shoes I'd be the same. I'd be the same in regards to the "rape" too since I like my partner being in control and yes, I'm willing to the sex, he's not a rapist.

Don't I have a right to exist too? That's the thing that bugs me.
