This sounds great. If ever there were a sequel (not that I'd want it; fanfiction is different), that would be the kind of twist that'd make sense and provide amazing plot opportunities.

I'll be happy to read it if you do ever end up posting it.

I think this film must've been the only Miyazaki thing that managed to scare me - the scene where her parents turn into pigs and she runs into that dark town alone gets me in a way only childhood nightmares do. And the Faceless. Brr. Guess that's why I love it - it's a healthy mixture of colour and fear.

Ugh I know exactly what you mean. For me, too, that scene conveys such a sense of helplessness and fear - when you're a child your parents can fix everything, except at that point they can't and the audience is right there with Chihiro when that safety net is pulled away. And of course the animation and music are marvellous.

That scene always makes a shiver run through me. It's so creepy.
