Joss Whedon's was overseeing Cap and Cap2 and I would presume would be overseeing Cap3 and while he's written vampires, and so on, he also likes things more or less grounded in realism (we'll just pretend the Buffy comic 'seasons' don't exist, okay?), and as has been pointed out, Bucky was starting to remember bits and pieces towards the end, so I think the remaining films left on Stan's contract as Bucky will more or less continue that trend of slow, but realistic recovery without the need for a duex ex machina like the Cosmic Cube.
