your friend told you to skip to season six? Your friend sounds like the dumb one. Why, for the love of god, would you skip from season one to season SIX in one of the most complicated shows ever. How the hell would you know who anyone was?! No wonder you didn't like it! Season six isn't even the best season!

Totally agree, skipping to season 6 is ridiculous. And no, Buffy isn't for everyone, but honestly... I don't think season 6 is even mildly a good starting place.

I watched the first season out of boredom and didn't really like the show until Prophecy Girl (the season one finale). At that point I decided that Buffy was an okay show. Season 2 sold me, though.

Yeah, Season 1 was a little rocky. I liked watching it - just to have the foundation of the story in my head - but it was Season 2 that cemented it for me.

Season 6? A horrible place to start. There's way too much backstory lost, too many in-jokes missed.
