I wouldn't say that it's the only thing I care about, but... I feel pretty damn obsessed with it at times, yes. So at least you're not alone?

Google "dacrylagnia". You're not alone.

Then check out http://trendland.com/sam-taylor-woods-men-dont-cry/

I'm the opposite in that crying makes me very uncomfortable to the point I've skipped many a crying scene.

Whatever floats your boat though OP. This being the Internet I'm sure you're not alone in this.

Oh, I get the fascination because I love seeing my favorite characters and actors cry and get super emotional too, but I don't think I'm quite as obsessed as you. I care about other things. (Not saying you're doing it wrong, though! My favorite scenes are usually the ones where tears fall, too. Mine or the characters, lol.)

...Just realized I don't have one icon of a character crying. Don't know how that happens, since I love tears so much and have 250 icon slots. Winter Soldier needs to come out already so I can have five icons of Sebastian's eyes.

That icon is A+ though. Emotionally constipated tough guys like Joel crying is even better. (also I shed enough tears in that game for a host of characters)

Are you OP? Because if you're OP you must've enjoyed the hell out of Last of Us. I felt like I was crying for half the game, lol.

Seriously, I don't think I've ever bawled ten minutes into a video game before. It was unthinkable.

Then...god, Sam and the transition that came immediately after, and the university, and Winter, not to even mention the ending...

I can't with it. Ugh, so much sadness. So much delicious sadness.

Joel's tears slay me. I feel so bad for Joel. (And Ellie. Holy shit the DLC tore my heart out and lit it on fire.)

It's not my favourite thing but I do like watching some of my best loved characters getting teary eyed, although it does depends on the situation sometimes.

I love this too, but it has to be done really well. Unfortunately a good cry scene is one of those things I only know when I see it.

Is one of your favorites Taylor Kinney? I'm obsessed with his crying scenes in Chicago Fire.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-26 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't really do anything for me in text-only mediums, but visually, yes. I love scenes of characters crying, or fanart of characters crying. My particular favorite is when someone licks or kisses their tears while they're still crying.

I don't have any room to judge, I follow a CryingJonSimm on tumblr. It's a blog dedicated to gifs of him crying. I started following years ago and haven't been able to leave. I don't have a problem, I swear.

Ahh, I start crying in symphathy, it's a terrible reaction to have in public.

My favourite actor is James McAvoy and one of my favourite things about him (aside from how hilarious he is) is how pretty he is when he cries. I mean, seriously, it's ridiculous. His eyes are so, so blue and when the tears well up they just look HUGE and beautiful.

I understand ya

I used to/still do to some degree have a thing for seeing male characters cry. The explanation that makes the most sense to me is that it shows a man being sensitive/emotionally vulnerable, which you don't get to see often and I like that.

You must LOVE Sebastian Stan & Jensen Ackles, then.

When done properly, crying is good. I like it.

I could never do that, my automatic reaction to a character crying is to start crying myself in sympathy (and characters looking a bit misty-eyed, or rather emotional, or basically showing any sad emotion). But, um, I'm basically a giant sook, so.

(Why yes, it is very hard to watch Lord of the Rings! MOVIES I LOVE YOU BUT I NEED LIKE HALF A BOX OF TISSUES...)
