Soooo, are you just trying to brag here?

Agreed. I've got some autographs, which for the most part are in a dresser. But having gotten to actually talk to/shake hands with/hug some other faves instead? Definitely better than just having autographs.

I don't care about the actual autograph, but a lot of time this is the only chance you get to actually talk to a celebrity at a con, so I get it just for that reason.

Yeah, this. Every single autograph I got was just a way to attempt a conversation with someone whose work I like. The autograph itself is a memento of that moment, like postcards I get from places I visit.
Also somehow, asking for an autograph sounds less awkward and more respectful to me than asking for a pic together with the celebrity, which is the default interaction these days. That seems more like a trophy collecting thing to me than autographs.

I think this is probably the only reason I'd go in for an autograph, too.

English isn't your first language, is it.

I'm the opposite, and I want the autographs without having to meet the celebrity. :/ I'm just so awkward in real life, it's embarrassing for everyone, but I like handwriting samples, and everyone writes their name with a flair.

I like the contrast between our comments. Each to their own!

I only really have autographs as a visual way of triggering the memory of meeting the person. I've never bought any, because on their own they don't mean anything to me, and I find purchasing them a little odd. Especially because so many people have bloody awful handwriting!

I recently met my biggest hero and got a handshake, a conversation, AND an autograph (I couldn't muster the courage to ask for a hug... it probably would have been weird). But the autograph was personalized and commented on something I had discussed with him specifically, so it is super special for that reason.

But yeah, you can buy a non-personalized autograph by most celebs on eBay, so.
