Yes, that's my point. It's a show for very young children. I don't have anything against that, but I'm not a very young child.

I think what gets to me is how limited the vocabulary and sentence structures are by the target audience. If you read fic, even stuff that's praised for being in-character, the ponies don't talk like they do on the show, they talk in ways that represent their personality and experiences. On the show, they all sound very similar despite wildly different backgrounds, and I personally can't suspend my disbelief for that. If you can, more power to you.

It's not for 'very young'. It's not a show for toddlers. 7-12 year olds are not 'very young'. If you were expecting Powerpuff Girls or something that is your fault.

7-12? I'll grant that they moved up to the Y7 content rating, but that's only because it's so ridiculously hard to get a lower rating--their target audience is 2-11. They have some parental bonus, but they don't and shouldn't try to tell the same kinds of stories shows for ages 7-12 tell.

2-11? Where the fuck did you get that from? MLP isn't a show for toddlers. Two year olds are not watching MLP they are watching Sesame Street and the like. WTF

Several places. Here's the first I can dig up: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Bronies-My-Little-Pony-Friendship-Magic-1068692.aspx

(I'm kind of amazed this is a point of debate. The vocabulary level is very different from shows for the 7-12 demographic.)

2 to ELEVEN, dumbfuck. The bulk of the audience is actually coming from the older end of the scale ie the 7-12s. Any toddlers watching are in it for the colors, not the content.

nayrt

Dude, if you feel that angry over the question whether MLP is for 2 year olds or not you should really go outside, take a breather and reevaluate your values.

...Do you have anything from the HUB and Hasbro? Anything OFFICAL? Not an article that is mainly about dudes watches a girls show? If not get the fuck over it, you are wrong!

Not the OP, but for some episodes there were more viewers ages 2-5 than ages 7-11.

"On the show, they all sound very similar despite wildly different backgrounds"

I... what? How on earth do you think they all sound similar? If anything I'd say their drastically different speech styles is ESPECIALLY representative of this "kiddy" aspect you dislike.
