I don't know if they are trolling or what, but I'd rather not have "help me kill myself" threads here.

It's properly warned for, so that's aboveboard - it's not harassing other people, so that's aboveboard. If I'm going to delete or freeze it, I need a justification. Could you give me a reason to delete or freeze it besides moral objection/personal dislike of threads like that? Not being sarcastic here. If you can, I'll do it, but I'm having a hard time coming up with one.

It's really just personal discomfort with the whole thing, I'll just have to remind myself to stay far away. Thank you, for the reply, and explanation.

I get the discomfort, don't worry. And if the thread were full of people being bullies or encouraging OP to do it, I'd freeze that - like, that would count as a bunch of people pushing someone else to suicide. But right now that isn't what's going on, and people are giving some good advice - which OP wouldn't get, if the thread were frozen or removed.

I wouldn't say FS is an ideal place for OP to talk about stuff like this, but if they're suicidal, they don't deserve to be shut out of it and banned from talking about it just because they are.

Not to ruin things for everyone else, but isn't this the kind of thing you would turn on IP logging for, and then report to a suicide hotline/suicide prevention website? It's probably a shot in the dark (and anon will probably stop posting after that), but a person's life is at stake. Even if they're giving themselves a year or so.

I wouldn't say so. Unless there's an immediate risk, I'd hesitate to do that. Trying to ID the person and send people to call or visit their house or something can hurt more than harm in the long run. Is OP alone at home? What if someone else picks up the phone? What if it makes everything worse, or the invasion of privacy speeds up OP's plans?

Unless OP is literally about to die, which they're not, I don't think anyone should be trying to send cops to their door. There's a long road between "feeling suicidal" and "about to commit suicide." They seem to be getting some good advice on the thread, as is.

Not to mention that the cops are far more likely to shoot them dead anyway because cops are shit at dealing with the mentally ill.
