I guess the part that doesn't make sense to me is that, for me, a super-short comment like that isn't really saying any more than a kudos is. it doesn't have any content that a kudos doesn't have and it doesn't really take more effort. both of them are just saying, essentially, "I liked this fic" and nothing more. they just honestly seem pretty indistinguishable from each other. when someone is saying "I LIKE THIS" versus a kudos.

but like you say - just a difference of opinion!
