This is going to make me sound old, but I dislike Tumblr for this very reason. It's soooo not conducive to discussion. I don't want to reblog something, I just want to comment on it. Tumblr is a conversational dead end. It's frustrating.

On the most surface level, Tumblr basically just panders to simplistic narcissism: you post something and count the likes and in time you realize that the less text and more gifs you use, the better, which makes it implode on itself because you also realize that it's pointless.

But it is possible to have conversations on Tumblr, you just mustn't be afraid to reblog and add a comment, or reply to a post, or send an ask to someone. Some people will just ignore you, but some will be excited that someone is talking to them - I know I would be ;)

Really? You don't find this system cumbersome? I do. I hate that it is so difficult to have any kind of meaningful interaction on Tumblr.
