I'd feel a bit bad, though, if all I'm doing is providing "consistently mediocre" content to the fandom. I'm with the others who like comments.

See, while I would like comments, I know enough about fandom and audiences to know that most people won't know what to make of my work. I tend toward lengthy non-erotic work that often includes taboo themes (e.g. non-religious homophobia, abortion, childfree choices). Also, as an original fiction writer, I'm accustomed to not always hearing from my readers. A kudos lets me know I've elicited some sort of emotional response. In fact, if the person has an issue with a thematic element I employ, I'd rather gets kudos over comments.
