Maybe it's just me, but I was getting the impression that Sarah was autistic, based on how Carlos talked about her. (And simply how she acts.)

And if that's true then the hate she gets is even more gross.

I got this impression too. I'd say there's a good chance she is somewhere on the spectrum, albeit on the higher functioning end of it. But there's definitely more going on than just her being sheltered.

I have two playthroughs on the go for Season Two. One Clem will definitely try and take care of Sarah, the other is frustrated at the whole "dead weight" thing other people have commented about.

It's really not gross though.

In the context of the game world, Sarah is not just useless, she's an active danger to the group. Every task she's been given, she is either incapable of or refuses to do. She doesn't have the capability of handling the world around her, so she contributes nothing and can't behave in a way that will enable her and the group to be safe. She is essentially a hole into which they're pouring scarce and valuable food for a negative return.

The fact that's she is mentally disabled or autistic doesn't change the cold hard fact that Sarah is an active liability to the survival of the group. In these situations, you don't get a pass. She was worth taking care of when her father was insisting on it and he was the only doctor. Now that he's dead, she's completely worthless.

I don't hate her, but she's literally the opposite of valuable to the situation and needs to be gotten rid of.
