Move on, hold on, in between?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Are you the sort of person who tends to move on from things (school, work, fandoms, social groups, etc.?) without a lot of thought afterward? Or do you tend to be nostalgic?

I definitely fall into the latter... not in an emo way, although I do think I sometimes wish things would be like they were too much, especially for my age (30 - seems way too young to miss yesterday). Oddly it's not that I don't like change - I just like being able to return sometimes one way or another.

I hate change, hold onto everything, and obsess about things ending. So yeah.

I move on easily, too easily some would say, but my good opinion, once lost, is lost forever ;p

Definitely nostalgic, but not afraid to do big changes in my life regardless.

But, I do dwell on some of my past - and am the kind who keeps old family albums, heirlooms, and is nostalgic about old friends.

I move on. AND JUST KEEP MOVING. In retrospect perhaps not healthy either. LOL.

Nostalgic, but I still move on from stuff fairly frequently regardless.

Definitely nostalgic for most things. Can be a good thing or a bad thing, or both.

I wish I was less nostalgic. It's torture to still think of silly mistakes you made years ago. (No one else cares or probably even remembers, so why do I? Ugh.)

In terms of fandoms, I'll be in one fandom for up to a year before moving on to a new one, and look back on it a year or two later.
Several times now I've reread Bleach after I've left the fandom, and the same with a lot of older stuff. It happens especially when I'm in between fandoms.

While there's a lot of nerd stuff I like, I only ever really got involved with the Pokémon fandom (mainly fanart and discussion forums.) The places I frequented changed in ways I didn't care for and my interest in the series has died down some, so I do sometimes get nostalgic about it. Especially about oekakis.

For other fandom-y interests, I usually move on pretty quickly.

Nostalgic, definitely. For fandoms, I almost never permanently drop a fandom, just place it on a shelf for later use while I focus on a new one. And I always cycle back through them when I have nothing new to glom onto.

I am stupidly nostalgic for everything, but then, I've not had a whole lot of good things last for me in real life. I've gotten much, much better about it in the last 15 years, as I'm not annoying everyone with my "Oh, REMEMBER WHEN....?" episodes. I do look back and think about things, but I don't get horribly depressed or anything.

I don't like feeling nostalgic, it's a bit uncomfortable, like I'm trying to grip something which's long gone.

I wrote Vagrant Story fanfic and took FFIV cosplay pics over the weekend. I think that answers your question adequately. -_-
