In games, it's frequently less because people want strong, stoic characters, and more because characters who have frequent breakdowns and make stupid decisions usually aren't fun. They are, in fact, often the antithesis of fun, serving only to throw obstacles in the way of progressing through the game. Very rarely are they given a purpose to serve that's actually helpful to the player/protagonist - which is ultimately on the writing team, but that doesn't make the reaction to them any less of an "aw, shit, again?"

See, I don't feel like that really applies to a game that's more of an interactive novel than anything. The whole game is about people throwing obstacles in the path of the protagonist and the protagonist choosing how to overcome said obstacles...
