I'm not a part of this community or fandom, but I read the secrets when I catch them on DW's Latest Things post. This one caught my eye. I don't have any useful advice, I just wanted to say that I know you are not alone and that there are others who would support you in any decision about your cross dressing that you want to make, either way.

I recognize you from LJ secrets! Hi there! You don't know me by this usename, this is my Dreamwidth account and I go anon on LJS, but I know you as a pretty awesome person :) You should come here more often, we don't usually bite (unless someone insults one of our favorite pairings, then all bets are off.)

Oh hai! It's really nice to see DW/LJ crossover! *waves happily* I guess then joining the community wouldn't be so bad, though as I'm not all that well read up on fandom, there's a lot of secrets I can't really say much about. But I like any community that allows for anon openness. Thank you!

You don't have to join, just show up occasionally. A lot of people do that, and even if you aren't into the fandom stuff there's always general comments on page 2!

But isn't that okay, just to do it at home? Not everyone is a big extrovert performer.

Not that it's okay that you're upset and think you're a coward. I don't think you are a coward, btw.

It's natural to be scared if you're different than the norm, and that fear can be internalised until it's stifling.

Good luck to you.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy, but I understand it might not be as easy as that for some people. Even if you only felt comfortable doing it at home where no one could see you, maybe you would enjoy yourself!

I hope you get to try it one day, anon.

Nonny, you have the right to be happy. If wearing skirts, or makeup, or talking to your feminine self makes you happier than you would be otherwise, then you should do it--but if you can't, please don't beat yourself up for not being "brave enough." Even posting about it on the internet is probably more brave than anything I've done in the last week, to be honest, especially if you're living in a situation where being outed as a crossdresser could bring you harm (emotional or physical).

All we want is for you to be happy, friend. We'll cheer you on in whatever that might be. Good luck.

You're not a coward, society is just too judgemental <3

(Anonymous) 2014-05-28 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Question: you talked... to your persona? Like, had conversations in your head? I did not know crossdressing personas were so developed. :o /potentially learned something today

You should own a skirt! Or many skirts. As many as you want. Do what makes you happy! c:

Everyone should have the right to be a pretty pretty princess if they want to. You do you, OP.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-29 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
You're not a coward. Like others have said, society is full of judgmental assholes; that kind of societal pressure is pretty much designed to make people too nervous and afraid to be different.

And hell, you posted about it on the internet. I think that was brave.

Buy yourself a skirt if you want and can. Or makeup. Or heels. Or all of them. Even if you just put them on at home, enjoy yourself.

Just remember that if you're living in a situation where even just crossdressing at home could get you emotional or physical harm, it's not your fault and you're not a coward. You're in a shitty situation.

Good luck. I hope you find happiness.
