It is incredibly adolescent.

But in a way, that's almost what's most interesting about it.

...Seriously though, I suppose I get why you'd say that, considering Kei's POV. He starts off as a very young guy -- with all that entails -- but has some extreme character development over the volumes.

Incorrect. I stole this opinion.

And Kei's POV is a large part of it, but it's present throughout. The cynicism, the gore, the approach to sexuality, the emotional troughs and dialogue. Hell even the humour and way it's outlaid like a videogame, it's all very particular to the approach you'd see from someone in their teen years.

Which makes it quite interesting in its own right.
