+1 to everything, but especially this: I hope when the time comes (either the actors get “too old”, or they want to leave) they'll retire the characters (maybe even bring them back for small cameos) rather than just recasting them.

I for one would love to see a War Machine and/or Rescue movie with a Tony cameo, or a Sif movie with a Thor cameo, or a Falcon movie with a Steve cameo. And how awesome would it be if they had Bucky take up the Captain America mantle but leave Steve alive and able to drop by occasionally for hugs.

Honestly as much as I wouldn't really like it I would still much prefer this over them just outright killing Steve, because at least then we can still imagine that the characters get some semblance of a happy ending. And write all the fic about Bucky going off to live with Steve >.>

I want it to happen. A Sif movie would be the best thing ever, though I doubt Marvel would ever go through with it. Sigh. We can dream. Any of these options are options I like. (Well, I still don't want Bucky as Cap, but if it's going to happen I would much rather Steve be kept alive to make appearances now and then. Anything else is too depressing to comprehend.)
