More about contracts and the actor's desire to move on (in Evans's case)

RDJ is getting up there, though.

Hugh Jackman's getting up there too (he's 45, RDJ is 49), and he sure doesn't seem to be slowing down as Wolverine at all. It's the same kind of situation with the actor and his performance becoming so associated with this particular character in the minds of audiences. The difference is, it's a lot easier to get away with using CGI and stuntmen for scenes with Stark in the armor, for obvious reasons. And let's remember, the MCU is not the same as 616 or Ultimates or any of the other comic continuities where the characters are all perpetually stuck in the same age. Letting the characters age in the MCU would be a breath of fresh air.

As long as the actors in question want to keep playing these roles and are capable of doing it, then I say, keep writing them those blank checks and let them play in front of the cameras.
