I NEED TO RANT TO SOMEONE F!S

so i'm doing an education course - a masters degree

and we have curriculum specialisations, (which are basically like specialising in the topic you're going to teach). and for this topic, my specialisation is psychology. the topic is literally called "Business and Psychology", keep this in mind, because it's important later.

anyway. this class starts at 9am. (it was the only option available.) to go to this class, i have to wake up at 6am and take the bus to get there.

and it is a NOTHING CLASS. like it has absolutely nothing to do with my specialisation. we're not getting taught curriculum specifics. there are people in the class doing history and drama and PE, like they just threw us all together.

the class lasts THREE HOURS and the most of the time the tutor spends soapboxing about her theoretical pet issues in education.

it gets better. the assignments are VAGUE AS HELL, like we get a one or two line summary of what the assignment is, and that's it. the whole class has been grilling the tutor for more details, and i STILL don't know what the hell is going on.

oh and it gets even better! WE DON'T HAVE RUBRICS. WE. DO. NOT. HAVE. RUBRICS. (rubrics are a table that tells you a) what you're being assessed on, and b) how much each thing is worth. really fucking basic stuff.) we don't have rubrics and this is a FUCKING EDUCATION COURSE!!!

so i have no idea what i'm being assessed on! it could be how attractive we are or how much she likes us, FFS! and she sure as hell doesn't like me because i've turned up half an hour late for each of her classes.

(my crippling depression certainly doesn't help with the motivation thing, but i manage to get to the rest of my classes on time...)

and she asks: "why are you half an hour late"

and i look at her and i have no idea what to say to her. i am just speechless.

maybe if she gave a single fuck about her class i would actually care.

AAARGHGHHHGSHDFJSJKFLSDJFKS!!!! i cannot believe i am PAYING ACTUAL MONEY FOR THIS BULLSHIT.

I don't really have anything going on with myself lately, but...that sounds really obnoxious, anon. How much time is left in the term?

it's a 6 week course (so half a semester)

I can sympathize with everything, but being half an hour late to every class is kind of terrible...

Have you tried asking for a rubric? Or going to whoever's in charge of courses etc? There should be various offices intended for student support.

the problem is... she's also the topic co-ordinator

so idk. i'm sure there's probably someone higher up i could go and see.

you should do that. And I feel kind of bad for saying this because I have chronic issues with lateness (though not consistently half an hour late to every class of one course), but you should start showing up on time, because at least then you can say you're doing your part.

Getting up early sucks ballsack. I can sympathize. I'm in the middle of a five-week OChem course that involves getting up at 5:30 (...at least, that's the idea) to get to a 7:30 lecture each day. and I am NOT a morning person. and a heavy sleeper. who doesn't always hear her alarm clock and doesn't always realize what it means.

...I should probably go to bed now...I have an exam tomorrow...
