Hi. I want to make a secret so badly, but I don't have a clue how to do a secret nor where or how to save it in a picture host site. Do any of you can direct me to any tutotial for this site? Thanks in advance!

I use imgur.com for hosting. You don't need an account and it's real simple. You don't even have to save your secret file. You can just copy and paste it.

To actually make it, get a base image and open it in MSPaint and add text.

And then when you upload it, right click and Copy image URL, go to the submission post and put that link in the comment.

I use tinypic and GiMP for secrets, both are free and you don't even need to make an account with Tinypic. As long as you can make images that are smaller than 600*600 pixels you can make a secret.

If you have paint, you can make a secret! It might not be the prettiest secret, but it will do. If you want something slightly more complicated, you could try Picasa and/or GIMP. (GIMP is more complicated, but if you just fuck around you'll eventually learn a couple things. Picasa is pretty basic but will give you a little variety.) I use a combination of the 3.

Just...look at other people's secrets, then try to do something like that I suppose? It doesn't have to be fancy, just legible.

Imgur is the best place to host, imo.

Thank you for all your tips! :) I've been lurking here for years (since LJ) and have an idea of what are the best legible secrets, but I had no idea about how to actually create an post them. Your comment is pretty useful, thank you!

I would say be careful where you place your text. (If the picture is super busy or the colors of the font clash and/or blend in with the picture it'll be harder to read.)

If you don't feel up to doing anything 'special', you can simply type your secret on a blank background, or even type it in word or notepad and use a screencap. I've seen that done several times before.

Also pasting a picture into paint (edited or not), choosing an appropriate background color and adding your words (under the picture, over the picture, beside the picture, whatever) will do.

Just make sure it's 600x600 or less, and make sure to word the secret in a way that isn't simply a statement and you should be fine.

Oh, and both Picasa and GIMP are free programs, if you want to try either of them.

If you want good free programs, GIMP and Paint.net are both good. I use Paint.net for my general image editing needs. And like everyone's saying, imgur is probably the best hosting site, especially since it definitely keeps you anonymous.

I think GIMP has a wicked learning curve. All I wanted to do was put text on my photo and add a stroke around the letters and was lost.

I'll pimp Photofiltre here, too. Much easier learning curve than GIMP.

Pixlr.com is a better image program if you want something more advanced than paint.

I usually use lunapic.com (make sure you resize the picture though. the text box option if under "draw". I recommend using white font with the border color set to "black". It's very easy to read in most cases) because they have a lot of fonts. I usually use tinypic or imgur to host

One tip in MS paint is after you put in your base graphic, check the "Properties" and make sure that neither the height or the width is over 600 pixels. If it is, try using the "Resize" command to scale the graphic down enough to fit.

(If your graphic is going to me mostly text, just start by setting the properties to 600 square or a little less - this will ensire that you don't wind up in the "Too Big" failbar.

I use a program called Photofiltre for making secrets; I find it less confusing than GIMP and more flexible than MS Paint.
