...I'm not a huge fan of a/b/o either, and the only thing even close to it in my fandom are a couple of prompts on the kink meme. Which are ridiculous, canon-breaking, and just plain stupid given the characters' circumstances, even if they did live in some kind of alternate biology!AU.

I am so tempted to fill these prompts, it isn't even funny. But have the characters treat the situation realistically/have realistic consequences (e.g. so the omega's suppressors don't work and he sequesters himself with permission from his commanding officer in a separate part of the barracks. One of the alphas returns late from an operation - somehow either skipping his debriefing or his lieutenant fails to inform him? - and finds himself in that part of the barracks and he "can't help himself" ...at which point the omega will either beat the shit out of him for trying to rape him, or he'll succeed, get reported, go to trial, and court martialled. Oh and hey now the omega's pregnant so he can't serve on the front lines so the now-arrested alpha has fucked over both the team and their careers. Cute!)

The only thing that keeps me from doing it is the painfully obvious kink-shaming.

I don't know if that would be kink-shaming exactly, but it wouldn't be in the obvious spirit of the prompt. Though I admit that is an a/b/o fic I would actually be interested in reading.

I'd still have to wrap my head around the US military allowing omegas in combat roles - who will literally make their teammates go crazy and be unable to control themselves once a month - when they won't allow women because of "unit cohesion". There are suppressors now? So what? We've had birth control for 50 years. There is just no way this would happen.

Honestly if they literally lose their minds/self-control and soul bond to rapists if they're ever captured by the enemy, there are probably no alphas or omegas in any military. Especially not in combat roles. They're probably all betas.
