Re: A rant on authors hating fan fiction

What I can't stand is fanficcers that try and forbid their fellow fans to fic their original work. You know, do as I say, not as I do? Worst of it is when their precious so-called original work... is fanfiction itself, too.
(Got one in my flist who does so for Bible rewritings and Neverwhere-verse expansions and still claims not to see any hypocrisy in her stand.)

It's regularly occurring rant on FFR, or it was a year or so ago. May have changed since, I gave up after their crazy went from entertaining kind of crazy to just the pitiable kind of crazy.

Not surprised to hear that. I left FFR a couple years ago.

A lot of people did apparently. It's pretty much as dead as fandom_Wank these days.

I don't know if it's that far gone, FFR gets a new post maybe every two or three days, while I just looked at FW and the last post is half a month old and the one before that is two months prior.

FFR is not very lively anymore, but there's a few stubborn souls still there.

I would consider it an EXTREME compliment if someone started a whole new story based on a story I'd written. Outside of the worry of plagiarism, why would this be a problem?
