The issue so many people have with My Little Pony is not unlike the problem they have with Kingdom Hearts: too many crossovers in inappropriate media. It would be one thing if it were perhaps five or six other fandoms and done in a little pocket on the side, but when the MLP fandom INSISTS on turning EVERY other character from everything else around it into a pony, it becomes tiresome and annoying.

Some people don't like MLP, and that's simply a matter of opinion, but when you start turning characters from mature movies or videogames or what have you into ponies, it starts to irk people, and given FiM's rather basic level of entertainment, it starts to undermine the characters that have been ponified, and in some cases can be seen as an insult to the character to reducing them to something from a show for little kids/girls.

While not the case for every fan, some people ponify characters just for the sake of spreading their fandom's influence, and it comes off as some kind of 'claim-jumping'. For example, there are probably very few fans of Jet Force Gemini going around on the internet, yet someone saw fit to go and ponify the characters from that game despite almost never hearing about it. Why? What purpose does it serve to visit old, dead, or small fandoms and do that? For people who were fans of that media it just might bring it back, but for people who DON'T like ponies and haven't heard of it, it could very well turn them away, if not absolutely ensure they do.

Teal Deer: A show for little kids doesn't mix well with other media more often than not, and often does so for the sake of doing it and invading spaces where 3 out of 4 times they aren't wanted.

You sound kinda butthurt. What's the purpose of people doing that? Because they want to. You don't have to participate.

What purpose does it serve...

That's exactly what I was thinking about this long-winded post.
