Re: Writing fic about pairings you don't ship

Do you know why shippers like that pairing? Try to find some meta. Not fic, because if it's popular it probably has a lot of cookie-cutter fic. Someone probably has a post somewhere gushing about why they like it, and from there you can get an idea of the character dynamics you're going for. If you can't find anything, make up your own. Think about the characters first, and then ask yourself "Is there a situation these two could be in that would make me ship them?"

It's not a popular ship at all. I think I've seen one or two fics for them, maybe.

The main problem is that one of the characters used to be boring before a certain character development (even people who have been his fans for ages say so, but mean it in a nice way) and these two characters had most of their interaction before said character development. Which makes it kind of hard to figure out how they would act around each other now.

Second problem is that the fic exchange is supposed to be anon until reveals, but I usually mention a certain kink when I write about this character. Trying not to mention this kink to keep my anonymity is hard and probably the main reason why the porn is progressing so slowly.
