Yeah, if they're doing that frequently, you need to call them out on it, absolutely.

Or say, "John (or Jane), you seem to be confused as I wasn't even arguing that point. It seems to be important to you, though. Maybe you should take this up in your own blog/journal/thread and invite discussion there?"

If they are otherwise okay and just get stupid about certain topics, is it possible to filter them from seeing certain posts?
