There's a seat that I've been sitting in for the first 8 weeks of classes, and the last couple times I've gotten to class, someone's been sitting in it, and saving the other seat for her friend, meaning I have to go sit somewhere else. Getting there earlier isn't an option, because I have a class right before then.

I know it's stupid, but it's like, seriously? I've been there the whole term, and now you're going to start sitting here?

TBF, they are the nice seats, but still! And I can't sit elsewhere in the nice seats, because there's a group of people who sit in the middle section of nice seats and save the entire row for their friends.

I know it's stupid, since we're not in middle school anymore, but it is mildly annoying.

I don't think that's stupid. I think most people would consider that common classroom courtesy.

I'm super tempted to ask one of my friends to save me my seat again, even though I know that that would be hella passive aggressive but... My seat. |D

I really agree, but I think people are kind of divided on this. I'm with Inkdust though, it's courtesy to not move around and take seats other people are used to using. I kinda wish people would just pick a seat and stick to it, but I guess some people think that's unrealistic/rude to wish for

It just makes me shake my head, because it's so late in the year, you know? And like, I wouldn't mind it if it was just this person sitting in "my" seat- there are three right next to each other, I'll survive, but she's also saving a seat for her friend, which lowers the chances of me getting a seat (since there's a guy who usually gets there before me, and takes the third one.)

But yeah, thanks. It's not to know that maybe I'm not super overreacting to this. |D

I had someone do that to me once, saying that she was short she needed it!...never mind I sit in the front because I'm hard of hearing [and this was a subject I'm very, very weak in.] According to her shortness was more important than my actually being able to hear.

Best part? The seat she was in before was *also* in the front row. So she gained nothing by switching, but I ended up next to two people who would not shut up and made it very hard for me to hear.

tl;dr: Ugh, that is annoying...and I agree with everyone above: It's common curtsy not to mess with the seating once it's set/if the person actually needs that seat.
