For me it's usually ships that are pretty fleshed-out in canon, like I really liked Peter/Olivia from Fringe but I didn't want to read fic or smut about them because I got everything I wanted from them in canon.

Also I don't read fic for any of my GoT ships, but I think a lot of that is not wanting to get overly attached to any pairing in that setting because if I'm not careful I will GET MY HEART RIPPED OUT.
