There are Christians who hold different views from you, and you would not agree that they were speaking for you. Why do you think the fact that you've met one atheist who espouses that view means that you can generalize to all atheists?

...because this was a group of atheists, as I was also an atheist at the time. They were pretty staunch on the whole Skinner thing, which I found sketch even then, tbh.

"A group of atheists" =/= "all or most atheists." Calvinists are Christians who don't believe in the concept of free will, and hold that God created some people with the intent that they would be condemned to hell for eternity, with no hope to change their fate. Given your earlier mention of free will, I assume you are not a Calvinist, and would not appreciate being lumped in with them simply because they are "a (very large) group of Christians." Please extend the same courtesy to atheists.
