I've tried, believe me. I've been subtle about it so maybe she didn't get the hint. But if I try not to be so subtle about it, I usually end up sounding like an ass.

"Hey, I'm not really interested in that. Can we talk about something else?"

"Look, I know you really love this dude but he kinda irritates me. It's nothing wrong with you but can we talk about something else?"

"You know, that guy bores me. Do you wanna talk about anything else?"

If she ignores all this, well, first she doesn't care about what you like so that's a problem. However, stronger would be if she really is being a butt about it. "I've said before I don't really like talking about that guy. Either we can talk about other things or you need to find someone else to gush to. I've met my limit on him."

These suggestions seem so obvious and now I'm feeling kind of foolish. Thank you so much. I will try these first and hopefully she won't take it too personally.

She's not usually so bad and she's not really being an ass about it for the most part. She is just super passionate.

We also have to remember when dealing with passionate friends, that there may have been times when we were so passionate about something that we annoyed them.
