I know she wants revenge on the king for stealing her wings, but is he even close to a main character? All the trailers made it seem like most of the interaction was between Mal and Aurora.

he's the antagonist

they fell in love when they were teenagers and the first king offers the throne for whoever kills malificent, he cant do it, so he cuts off her wings instead and becomes king, and through out the movie he kind of gets obsessed with trying to kill her and doesn't even seem to remember why (putting a curse on his daughter)

also what i said about the last part, he doesn't actually forget why he wants to kill her, but he goes obsessed (talking to her wings, doesn't care when his wife gets ill and dies, makes his army stay up for days to kill her, when he see's aurora on her bday he's just like "um...what? go to your room. i said come back the day after!") he didn't seem to even be happy to see his daughter after 16 years.
