They still turn up from time to time in library sales and thrift stores for very reasonable prices.

I was already reading the older kid/YA versions of such stuff (Alfred Hitchcock Presents anthologies, Jan van Brunvand's urban legend books), so they weren't as much a part of my childhood (though I could admire those outrageous Gammell illos). When I came across some inexpensive copies, I gave them away as special Halloween goodies.

Don't think you'd turn much of a profit, used copies with the original illustrations appear to be all over Amazon for $0.01 and up.

For a while there was a violent price spike right after the bowdlerized editions came out. Glad to hear it's settled back down.
