Like Jaime Reyes took up the Blue Beetle legacy?

The real problem with that is people always talk about how they want more stuff like Blue Beetle III but then never buy it -- and part of that is because DC doesn't fucking market it and part of that is because people won't buy anything that doesn't have an A-lister on the cover.

Fucking comic books.

Well, and part of the reason is that when we get a book that seems like it might be in the Blue Beetle III spirit, it feels like DC is intentionally sabotaging it since the New 52. I mean, the travesty that was the new JLI? The horror show of the latest Blue Beetle volume? Good Christ, time was I'd pick up anything with Impulse because he was just fun to read about. But now... *shiver* If it weren't for Demon Knights, I would have washed my hands of all 11 titles I picked up from the new 52 within two months, because most of what should have been fun was just plain *bad*. And given that, there's no reason to trust that even if they made Wally his usual red-haired white guy working for the cops, that there would be any fun to be had.

Sorry I'm late, but I wanna reply

This always makes me so sad regarding Jaime Reyes, because I did pick up every issue of his initial series (and then bought them all again in trades too!) and I talked them up to everyone I met who was into comics...but people just dismissed them as "silly". They weren't dark or edgy enough for people, having a little fun was something to be mocked...so sadly, as much as I hate it, I can see why it didn't sell better (hard as I tried) and what caused DC to go down this path they've gone down.

...now I kinda want to rub those people's noses in it "Is this what you wanted? Huh? You got it now, you better enjoy it!"

Ms. Marvel is (so far) recapturing some of that magic for me, but that more just a general recommendation to people who come across this than one specifically to you, since I know you're not much for Marvel. (I pretty much read whatever interests me at the moment...it was almost all DC for a while... :( )
I heard they reintroduced Ted Kord into DC comics...and even though he was my favorite, I don't care, because no matter what they call him, he's not Ted Kord.

To sum up: I agree. "Fucking comic books."

I agree about Ms. Marvel--it reminds me a lot of what I liked about Jaime. Hey, a teenage superhero and their loving family (although Jaime was even more unique in that they all knew and supported his superheroing).

Geeze, did they bring Ted back?

It's funny, two or three years ago, that would've made me happy, but now it just fills me with dread. A sad, tired feeling. It's like getting a steak that's gone rancid.

That's a pretty good description of it.

I'm not even sure why they're bothering, DC doesn't seem to like Ted very much. :(

Yeah, it's like...there are some characters that pretty much need to always be around and always will, like Batman.

And then there are some characters that should absolutely only be written by somebody who loves them.

And after Giffen and DeMatteis, Ted (and Booster) are definitely in the latter category.
