I went to a boarding school and was in my dorm at the time. When fire alarms go off, staff check the rooms around where the fire alarm was.

One of my favorite authors, Libba Bray, tells a story similar to this. For one of her books, she needed to know how to make a bomb. But she didn't want to google it and get, I dunno, surrounded by black helicopters. So she went old school and asked her librarian for help. Her librarian told her that the Freedom of Information act (or some other act that sounds like that) meant that there was absolutely nothing illegal about looking up bomb-recipes.

So Libba fired up her computer and googled it, and just as she did, her computer screen went black/crashed. She was so terrified she was afraid to go back to the computer for three days.

Fire alarms can be hella scary when they happen at weird times. Once in middle school it went off immediately as I opened my locker to get my stuff at the end of the day. I was a bit nervous about opening my locker for a few days haha.

My grade 11 economics teacher was boring as fuck. He spoke in a monotone--no, seriously, no inflection, no raising or lowering of his voice. Only class I've ever fallen asleep in.

Anyhow, one day, just as I was about to nod off, like, one more second and I would've been asleep, didn't the bloody fire alarm go off (fire drill, we had them regularly)...just about had to peel me off the ceiling!
