Heh. I love how the portrait of Queen Elizabeth is more prominent than Sherlock in this picture. For a second I was like 'Mycroft/the Queen yeah okay... wait, that's incest??'.

Their relationship certainly has a lot of messed up history. I can see how you could ship it.

Because Sherlock's hair is (dyed) dark, and they wanted to match Mycroft's hair color to his brother's.

^what anon said. it doesn't really make sense to me, since siblings can have different hair color, but since gatiss and cumberbatch don't have many facial features in common, the people in charge of this stuff must have wanted to highlight the fact that they're brothers in other ways.

What I love about their dynamic is that it's so versatile. Their scenes are kinky, cute, romantic, adverse, and so on.

And Sherlock actually admitting concern over his brother's (potential?) loneliness! You're absolutely correct, s3 gave us many nice things.

"Your loss would break my heart" made me flail in glee (he meant it, even if he may have only said so because he'd been drugged up). Beyond the shipping, I do indeed just adore their dynamic!
