I just wanted to see Godzilla. I was very disappointed. I did not go to see the movie a second time, and I have no interest in buying it on DVD.

Assuming it makes enough for a sequel (in doubt given the fall off of ticket sales), I hope the ditch Edwards as director and get someone to put the title character on screen.

Origin story audience-blackmail syndrome, as usual. Come see a movie in which we only show you fifteen minutes of the character in title, and if you don't then you won't get another. That is why we have so many stillborn franchises, and so many crappy origin stories. Was there anyone on the godforsaken planet that did not know what Godzilla was and needed an origin story to explain him?

There was more Godzilla in the classic film. It took him a half an hour to show up there as opposed to a full hour in the new one. And he was the main focus of the film too.

I have no problem with the initial build-up towards Godzilla, what I have a problem with was that they cut away from Godzilla fighting the monsters not once, but twice. Instead of seeing Godzilla fucking the baddies up, which is what I paid for, I instead got to follow the blandest American soldier around while, presumably, much more interesting shit was going on elsewhere(like y'know, actual fucking monster fights). And to cap it all off the last fight was chopped to hell and even Godzilla's atomic breath wasn't enough to appease me by that point.
