I can see the creepy in Synthesis if I think about it; Control struck me as being more immediately creepy, which is why I didn't choose it. Also I didn't really like the idea of Shepard becoming some kind of super-human ethereal...thing.

Synthesis is like...the least of three evils. Like yeah it's bizarre how much it changes everyone, but I see it as preferable to killing them.

I agree that all three have their downsides. I suppose that's the point, but...after a series that long, with that many choices, it just felt underwhelming and disappointing to not be able to end the game the way you want. You have three very limited choices that don't make a lot of sense and seem random. I just didn't like it.

Synthesis creeps me out because Shepard's changing every being in the galaxy without their consent, and making them part of what they've been fighting against for years. Plus, how it would actually work (everyone being connected) is both confusing and sort of terrifying to me. And control...no one should have that much power, and I can only see it going badly no matter how good Shepard's intentions. And the shape the galaxy is in after all three is...well, it makes me a lot less interested in any ME4.

Speaking of - I said once that ME4 was confirmed to be a sequel because I thought I read that on an official page. But it seems maybe that's not the case (I've been doing a lot of pre-E3 reading and video-browsing instead of homework) and it could still pretty much be anything. There are other potential issues with it that I don't like, but really nothing has been confirmed beyond the fact that it exists (and we'll probably find out more about it next week). So there's still a possibility it could be a prequel and not touch that nasty pile of crap that is the ending to 3. (And I could go on having a fix-it headcanon for the ending to 3.)

I mean, I'm not going to hold my breath. And I'm not going to be devastated, because my expectations are low and there are also tons of other things to be excited about at E3. But it would be nice, you know?

I haven't kept up with BioWare news lately, so to hear that ME4 MIGHT not be set after ME3 is a great news. If it were a prequel I would be 100% more interested in it. (And I had completely forgotten that E3 was next week, which is kind of sad considering I used to count the days. Oh well. Hopefully some cool stuff will be revealed this year.)

Man I'm excited for E3 for so many reasons, mostly Nintendo-related, but if it turns out that ME4 news is good I'll be really happy. A prequel of some kind would be great - not necessarily even a direct prequel. My friend and I have talked about it...the Morning War, the Rachni War, the Krogan Rebellion, the First Contact War, so many cool events that would be fun to play through...and anything expanding on the world and species and combat and technology and everything would be great. Just leave Shepard's story alone. It has closure of a sort, and people have already headcanoned the rest for themselves. It's time to do a new story imo.
