When a film markets itself as the 200million dollar budget-kaiju smash fest with the biggest monster ever. You cannot have expectations that are too high in the field of FX and Kaiju smashing. If a film markets itself as being for people that enjoy that, but does not deliver, it is not that we have no taste it is we have tastes that were appealed to but were not serviced.

This movie wanted to be a high-budget indie arthouse movie. Trouble is, you cannot have a high budget arthouse movie, the audience is not there to support that budget. Edwards already told his arthouse movie about monsters, it was called Monsters.
