In a rare manga that did the opposite, it actually took me a couple pages into the sex scene to realize that that was the case...

iirc, no, neither character was a switch. Plus, squinty was a brooding yakuza and big eyes was a squealy host, so I think the artist was having fun messing with convention (though the art style didn't do the super-exaggerated size/height disparity, but that would have been fantastic).

Haha, yes. I love Kelly's Heroes, but for a good portion of the movie I'm always like, "okay, there's helmeted dude, helmeted dude, helmeted dude, helmeted dude, and Oddball."

so is that why 9/10 manga fics use these hair color related adjectives? i swear if i have to read about how "the blond man" fucked "the raven haired one" into a wall one more time, i might actually bang my head on that very same wall.

Nah. Slash fics of live actions shows and movies do that crap too. I wonder if it would be possible to write epithet fic. "The Tall Epithet licked the Long Epithet's neck ...epithetically."

i don't see it as much in my live-action fandoms, but i believe you. i blame the epithet thing on the teachers who told kids that repetition is bad. now they're even scared of using the same pronoun twice, or, god forbid, the character's name.

Me too, OP, especially if they've both got SHORT hair. Long hair can get drawn in different styles. Short hair only looks a few ways.
