They clearly have at least a little compassion since they realize this is a horrible thought and they feel bad about it.

I understand why you're upset, but it's normal for people to have dark and terrible thoughts. The assholes are the people who use those thoughts to hurt others.

Ah. I didn't quite catch that part. My mistake.

And yeah, that is true. I guess it's just me feeling uncomfortable sharing those kinds of thoughts, even if it's completely anonymous. But different strokes and all that.

Fair enough; different folks have different comfort levels. I read OP as feeling bad about having that be their initial reaction, even in the privacy of their own head, and wanted to get it off their chest so it doesn't fester. I'm the same way about some stuff, but I respect that you might feel differently.
