First, non-Catholic Christian churches are generally much less hierarchical than the Catholic Church, and don't place as much importance on institutions and things like that. There tends to be more of an emphasis on the individual person's relation to God, and less formalism.
Second, the monastic orders were subject to a huge amount of criticism around the time of the Reformation and through the middle ages by Protestant reformers and by others for being generally corrupt, having loose morals, etc. It was commonly asserted that a lot of wandering friars were probably rogues, that a lot of abbeys and monasteries were probably pretty greedy and interested in wealth accumulation, etc. Johann Tetzel whose sales of indulgences was one of the big things that led Luther to make his criticisms was a Dominican friar. Basically the system of religious orders was at the center of the exact abuses that the Protestants were criticizing, so it kind of makes sense that they would not be big on bringing it back.
