That is really an extremely small percentage of humanity. I understand that there are a lot of reasons why someone might be selective about their friends, but if they really can only tolerate one person out of all the people they've met, chances are good that this person is an asshole.

Dumb question, but what exactly do you admire about this person? Is it certain skills? Is it the way they carry themselves? Is this a romantic crush?

I think you can apply some objectivity here and go, "well, they're kind of a jerk, but I'll always admire his/her art." If it's more like a "I wish I were more of an important person in the life of a person who doesn't treat others very well" then you may need to let go of that dream.
