I do it as a good-luck charm - I have it combed and curled into a neat little circle and I look to it and sometimes touch it when I'm anxious or scared or have a near-miss accident or something. It was just something random at first and now I like to think it makes me lucky?

Hanging on to your old length was a pretty common thing in some spots back in the day before Pantene Beautiful Lengths and other hair donation options. If you didn't need to sell it to wigmakers anyway.

I recently cut my hair (which used to be down to my elbows) because I would rather not walk around with a thick head of frizz in the humid weather we were having where I live. It's now a pixie cut, which I adore. But family still keep going on at me to grow it. :/
