Yeah, I won't deny that. I do get the sinking feeling that the first Iron Man will remain the best of the lot, though.

Personally, it's a toss up between Iron Man and Cap 2.

The Winter Soldier was, for me, exactly the opposite of the first Captain America - whereas the latter had dreary, uninspired action scenes and brilliant writing and character development elsewhere, the former had brilliant action and dull character interactions. But I'm a sucker for action, so yes, Winter Soldier is definitely up there on the list, for me.

Really? That's interesting - I thought CA2 had some great characterization and interactions, plus it was a brilliant team movie IMO.

I was consistently bored every time the Captain and Natasha were on screen and not kicking someone's ass. They had less than zero chemistry (which may have been the point, I realize) and their exchanges were either Exposition Dumps, or grindingly forced "look, he's morally upstanding and she's morally ambiguous!" iterations on the same theme.

Which is unfortunate, because I adore both of those characters as individuals.

Aw, I loved the budding Steve/Natasha friendship. I like the whole "fire-forged friends" trope in general, and I thought their transition from work colleagues to actual friends was very nicely done. I didn't see it as a "morally upstanding vs morally ambiguous" kind of thing, more like two pretty different people finding common ground and things they like about each other. Also, I like to think that the reason Natasha was so adamant about trying to set Steve up with someone was that she noticed how painfully lonely he was and was trying to fix that in her own way. (And I thought their chemistry was good, but different strokes etc.)

I love their friendship too! It's very sweet and poignant at the same time, and one of the things I really enjoyed about their interaction is that it's supposed to be strictly platonic. The actors and writing found a really great balance with that, and I saw friendly chemistry between them.
