"just a reminder that if you don't like natasha you are a terrible awful person and part of the problem ✿◕‿◕✿")

I hate those self righteous passive aggressive things so much, and but lately I've calmed myself by telling myself that it's probably some 15 or 16 year old who thinks they know everything types. Because that's what they sound like.

I don't ship or write shippy fic of any kind, but I do SO agree with everything you've said. I do like good female characters and if I encounter one, I always count it as a book's/show's/film's advantage, but the way fandom worships them while simultaneously not caring about them at all is maddening.

Yes, yes, this! I've been trying to think of how to explain my issues with fandom and female characters and this sums it up exactly. I have so many people on my dash who will go on and on about how all the fandom's female characters are flawless and perfect and how everything can be solved by femslash and not white dicks but then all they actually write/gif/draw is, well, white dicks.

Ahhh, that last part. I fucking hate that SO much. It happens in so many fandoms though. Ugh.

Yeah, I agree. I'd rather read a great story about a dude than a mediocre story about a woman, no matter how cool she is. It would be nice to have more great stories about cool women, but I'm not going to purposely alienate something because of it.

I have no problem with female characters dying if it propels story and makes sense within the world the characters live in (like Lori's death in The Walking Dead tv series. It moved Rick and Carl's story, was a refreshing reminder that not everybody dies from being bit by a Walker, and probably the starkest example yet that this is a very different world that these characters live in).

On the other hand, if a show, say, like Supernatural, kills practically every woman on the show to prop up the altar of St. Winchester (unless you're an attractive gay nerd), or it seems the only reason the female character died was as 'punishment' for her actions or making bad choices (It really did seem that the only reason TWD's Andrea died was because she slept with the Governor), then I have a problem with how a show kills off a female character and suspect misogyny.
