Yup. It's a logical fallacy called "poisoning the well" - You like/believe/do X unrelated thing, so your opinion is suspect or worthless. It's both obnoxious and intellectually void. I wonder how he'd react to having this pointed out to him?

Oh I've tried to tell him, but he's just like "well I don't care about your opinion because you do this, I've told you this before." I've pretty much decided not to bother talking with him anymore. *shrug* .

I should just let go and lot other people deal with him. Still such a negative person who can't stand the success or happiness of those who don't agree with him is just grating.
