Re; Sunset Boulevard, she originated the role of Norma Desmond when the show premiered in London, and was under contract to take it to Broadway. Then ALW decided he wanted Glenn Close for the Broadway tranfer instead and informed Lupone that she'd been fired . . . right before she was about to go onstage.

She (rightfully) sued him for breach of contract and won. Hilariously, she used the settlement money to build "The Andrew Lloyd Weber Memorial Pool" at her house.

That is fabulous. I knew Patti LuPone was awesome but now she's even more awesome in my estimation.
