It's so widely accepted that I get really weirded out if a fic gives him a different name.

I could see myself getting to that point if the show doesn't give him a name soon.

Though when I first joined the fandom even seeing him referred to as John weirded me out so bad because all I could think was, "No, he's Sheriff Stilinski'. Which is obviously not what everyone would call him all the time but he'll always be Sheriff Stilinski in my head.
