Yeah the show where they kept the guy who called his gay coworker a faggot on until the backlash became too great is a much better example

That was the actor and they did let him go because of it, it wasn't on the actual show. And the show has a lesbian couple, an amputee character (though not the actor), a more female than male cast, and a racially diverse cast.
