Dean/Castiel as a pairing. Not in Supernatural fandom, not even a fan at all and have only see the first couple seasons, but I'm pretty sure people bring up the damn pairing every day, even when the topic isn't them, just to let us all know how much they hate the pairing and how much it's totally not canon.

Add "Sterek" or whatever it's called to that.

and Sherlock/Watson hate, though luckily that seems to have died down a tiny bit, and hopefully will remain mostly dead for a few years until the next series comes out

though in general, people need to stop getting so righteously butthurt about popular slash pairings that they don't ship

I wouldn't care about them if I didn't get a slideshow a week about how they're big fat social justice issues for American media.

And within fandom too. Not a homophobe, thank you, I just don't ship those two particular characters and do not see any reason why I (or the creators) should feel obligated to do so.

Although I do also have to agree with the anon downthread whose experience has been more of the pre-emptive "NOT CANON" variety. I like character X. It's amazing, and annoying, how many people will instantly assume that I must therefore ship Character X with Character Y and start in on how not-canon they are. Um, I agree? Did I even mention Y? Noooooooo...

My experiences tend to be the other way - people getting deranged and hateful because their Sherlock/Watson ship isn't canon. Ship what you want, but don't expect the rest of us to go along with it.

Here, I have seen 100% the exact opposite. Zero people have screamed about how canon it was and homophobic you are if you don't support it. 100% of ranters have been seriously offended that people dare ship it, and HEY EVERYONE IT'S NOT CANON JUST SO YOU KNOW, IT'S NOOOOT CAAAAANOOOOOON
